CONTENT WARNINGS - Flint's canon deals with violence, murder, sexual assault, racism, homophobia, and general themes of colonial violence. Let me know if you'd like me to avoid any of these subjects in threads.

ABOUT - James Flint is an ex-naval officer turned feared and infamous pirate of the West Indies in the Golden Age of Piracy. A ruthless tactician motivated by the righteous cause of a free world liberated from the cruelties of colonial rule (+ or - some personal revenge, as a treat), Flint will use any tool or body or story at his disposal to achieve his desired ends.

HOOKS & INTERESTS - Crosscanon, Castmates, and OCs welcome. I'm fine with playing across mediums. I prefer playing in a historic quasi-historic setting, bonus points if there's at least a whiff of action and politics.

CANON POINT & SPOILERS - Any point works for me (including pre-canon or speculative 'What If?' timelines). I tend to default to S3/S4, but am more than happy to pluck at an earlier canon point if it suits the thread.

I'm not going to spoiler mark anything for this show that ended in 2017, but if you're looking to avoid spoilers feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to avoid them.
SEXUALITY & SHIPPING PREFERENCES - Flint is bisexual with a strong preference for men, who has historically been far more likely to sleep with women. Fav ships are Flint/Thomas/Miranda (in any configuration), and Flint/Silver with the right kind of torturous unrequited slow burn vibe. In general, if there's chemistry then I'm usually open to pursue something. No minors.
PHYSICAL AFFECTION - I think it's funny; Flint may not.
FLIRTING - See above.
RELATIONSHIPS - Slowburn (or at least emotional slow burn) tends to be my bread and butter. That said, I'm all for cross-canon and pre-established CR for meme and psl purposes.
FIGHTING/INJURY - Sure. Flint is a normal guy with normal human abilities. Good with a sword and pistol, will beat someone to death with a rock if pressed.
CHARACTER DEATH - Open to it, but let's chat first.
MINDREADING - Sure; hit me up in a PM and I'll give you the juicy details.
Out of Character
CONTACT - PM
AVAILABILITY & BACKTAGGING - Timezone: PST; I have an erratic work schedule, and thrive on backtags. Happy to migrate off meme communities into journal posts if something hits captcha.

I can do either action or prose, and am fine with any level of explicit sex/violence (though ftb is also fine). Heads up that I do 99.9% of my tagging on mobile, and occasionally get hit by some dorky autocorrect typos. It's not you, it's my thumbs.
THREADJACKING - No
FOURTHWALLING - No
PREFER TO AVOID - Crack scenarios
OFF LIMITS - No necessary trigger warnings. I prefer to avoid 'on-screen' sexual assault.
Sights & Sounds
LOOK - Flint is a slightly shorter than you expect man in his late forties; he's starting to go a little burly in the shoulders and around the middle. Depending on the canon point, he may or may not have hair. But probably not.
SOUND - Here
SMELL - Salt, leather, sweat.
DEMEANOR - Flint is ultimately driven by a belief in a greater good. He may radically fail at caring for most individuals, but he believes sincerely that the world can be changed. He may be willing to do great violence, but he isn't blind or immune to the fact that those things are monstrous; he simply views them as necessity of the world as it is now and something to be shed in an idyllic future. Justice and freedom are realistic, achievable, and necessary. Further, it's just and good to demand these things. Flint's an optimist in wolf's clothing.

tl;dr He's often a mean bitch.
INFAMOUS PIRATE - Flint has all the requisite skills to be a particularly cunning and fearsome pirate; he's a skilled sailor, good with a cutlass and pistols, and an able tactician. Most of all, he's willing to crack a few eggs to make an omelette.
EX-NAVY- Once a Lieutenant in the English Navy, Flint once had a particular connection and desire to belong the quote, unquote, civilized world. Some of those habits remain—he's an avid reader, is keenly aware of the opportunities and limitations of a society that calls itself polite, and he trends in the direction of the overbearing father-knows-best tyrannical rule that can only be made habitual by having once devoted himself to a life ruled by class and rank.
